I have just recently built a new machine and I put XP Pro on it. I have a home network, and was wanting to share files among this network. With Windows 2000 file sharing you can create a share with limited access (you have to provide a username and password to access the share). With XP I cannot figure out how to do this. When I share a drive with XP, it is either wide open for all access or none at all. I do not want this vulnerability, (there are actually several apt's on my LAN), but there has to be a way to share a drive with password restrictions (Like with 2000). Anyone know how??? Also with XP, my computer does not show up on the workgroup when I browse from another computer on the network. I have it on the same workgroup as all the others.
Any advice??
Thanks!!!
