Why are so many mp3's on file sharing programs filled with minutes of beeping noises, or with loops? It's hard to find a song these days.

Yeah, RIAA wants to "discourage" you from downloading so they make it much more difficult to find quality versions by flooding the market with crap. Pretty smart if you ask me. Sucks for downloaders though.

I tried downloading Guster's Amsterdam. Instead, I got a song of a guy going "meow" over and over again. Great song :)

Do you think the files you are downloading are coming from normal users? No, they are sitting on RIAA servers.

If you want good MP3's, make your own.

We have 50+ GB on our LAN, 95% of which was ripped & encoded by us at 320 VBR.

All perfect, all full albums.

File sharing is pointless: It's illegal, low quality, poorly organized/standardized, etc.

Wait, if the RIAA is sharing files, are they contradicting themselves?

Soime may argue they are sharing corrupted files with errors, so that makes it ok.

But mp3 are basically not "complete" files either, having been compressed and "corrupted" from its original form.

Nite: I'm not saying all of them are, Captain Obvious. If the RIAA can afford the lawsuits that they are filing, do you not think that they can afford quite few crappy PCs to set up to share files?

Lol. THat wasn't the RIAA. Guster flooded the major networks with that meow thing before launching their CD. It worked pretty well.

Yep I saw that on the news. I heard it didn't really help their sales though, but they got a kick out of it.
