i currently have 2 comps hooked up thru Linksys router, the internet works fine and my first computer (named Main) can connect to second computer's (named Secondary) shared files but secondary cannot connect to Main. I beleive I know the problem just dont know how to fix it. When clicking the folders to be shared and going to sharing > permissions the screen on Main computer says "select users or groups" and when clicking the Add button the "Look in" box is grayed out with Main in it. SEcondary computer when clicking the folders says "select users, computers or groups" and it allows me to select either Secondary or workgroup name. Both computers are running win 2000 pro and were set up exactly the same (as far as network compenents installed etc). Both computers show up in Network places > Computers Near me and both have file sharing turned on, but secondary comp cant access Main (always asks for Network password, then says \\Main is not accessible" "Logon Failure blah blah". Any ideas?

Do you have the same exact user account on both PC's? Here is what I mean.

On Main, add a user named User, and have the password set to user. On Secondary, create a user named User, with a password of user. The name or password is not importand, as long as they are the same on both computers. Windows will share the login info with each other on the network, so you need a valid login on each computer.

This really affects you with a peer to peer. If you had a domain controller to log into, I don't think that you would have to go through this.
