ok so my bro has a laptop, and we wanted to share hds. so i did everything and it works. now like 3 months later after not using the shares for awhile, it doesnt work anymore 🙁

i formatted my hd a few times since then, still no luck. my firend came over with his laptop (we usually play games on my lan) and he cant access it either...so it must be my bros laptop.

he says he din't do anything to it lol, formatting is outta the question (or whatever u do with laptops) cause hes "borrowing" it form his university, or renting it or whatever.

i get this error when trying to log on:

Logon failure: the user has not been granted the requested logon type at this computer.

its in advanced so c$ etc shares dont work....so i make a new share like C and allow everyone

same error...

i go to wireless properties and file and printer sharing is enabled

i go to services and see that server and workstation are both functioning (he can acces me...i cant acces him)

i go to group policy...doesnt seem like anything fishy..all "not configured" but i didnt look at everything.

so.....what u guys think might be problem? i went to permissions and allowed everyone, then i logged on with his user name (both local one and "oncampus" domain one) and both come up with same error. what could be the problem?

thanks.

In some cases installing NetBEUI as an additional Protocol might solve the problem fast.

Log to this page it has a lot of links to instructions to Windows Network setting and Sharing.

Link: Installing & Sharing.
