What idiocy...

Until the studios wise up & start offering movie downloads/TV Shows downloads like the current piracy scene does now, they are fighting a useless fight.

It's fun seeing how lobbysits can get here way over anything even though the basic premise behind p2p is no different than ftp, http, etc. A sad day indeed.

the lobbyists didn't get their way, which would be that these guys are shutdown on summary judgment. what that got is an opportunity to prove that these guys intended for you to pirate movies and music using their software. not the same thing at all.

"We hold that one who distributes a device with the object of promoting its use to infringe copyright, as shown by the clear expression or other affirmative steps taken to foster infringement, is liable for the resulting acts of infringement by third parties," Justice David H. Souter wrote for the court.
Fair enough I guess. If I marketed an assault rifle by saying, "Able to kill twenty cops at 100 meters!" Well, people might not be that happy. :p

All they have to do is be circumspect about their marketing materials and all will be fine.
