Here's the situation. I am in a tech shop type scenario where I work on many different computers and many of them have Windows 98 and no login passwords. These machines are normally repairs and I'm not going to give them usernames a nd passwords. I just upgraded my machine (use it as a file server) from Windows 98 to Windows XP Professional w/ SP2. I used to have several different shares for different things that I wanted access to from the other computers that were set as read only for driver's, and other things. After upgrading to XP, it keeps asking a password for \\computername\IPC$ I am wondering if there is ANY workaround I can use to get this running properly so that the other windows 98 machines that are I am working on can access my shared folders. I have tried enabling and setting a password for the guest account but that did nothing. Any advice?
