file sharing and the BEFSR41 router

ok. i have RR cable and 2 computers. i wanted to originally share the internet onnection and transfer files between comps. first i bought a hub, and purchased an additional ip address from RR. with this setup i could simultaneously use internet but could not file share. dont know why, i tried everything. so i bought a router. the linksys BEFSR41. i have both ocmputers plugged into the router, and the modem into the WAN link. internet works for both computers. im gonna cancel my xtra ip addy. but i still can share files! in network neighborhood, the other computer doesnt show up. yes they have the sa,e workgroup and all that crap. can someone PLEASEEEEE!!! help me. so stressed out. been on hold for techsupport for 2 hrs now. no one there i think. gosh. im gonna kill myself if i cant get this to work. i appreciate any help you can give me.
 
this probably sounds a little bit too easy but do you have file sharing checked in the network properties of both computers?
if so make sure you are sharing something as well... if u need more help lmk...
