My aunt has a journal file on her computer and she wants to know of a way to keep it hidden from everyone else in her family. What is a good encryption program that will let her update the document and save it? It has to be on her hard drive, no usb sticks or anything. Thanks.

PGP can encrypt it. She should just remove all permissions from the usernames of the family members. Of course, that would assume they were using different user names and no one had admin privs, but they're probably all using the admin user like maroons.

PGP, that's a program correct? How much does it cost and how can she save and keep it encrypted? Thanks for your quick reply.

I'm not sure how much it costs, but it is probably the best payware encryption program out there.
