i need to recover some files. this is what i think happened. i went to "copy" some local mail to a network drive, but halfway through the "copy", i recieved an error that said i was out of disk space. ok fine, so i hit my quota. i then decided to forget about storing mail on the network drive nad just keep the mail on my local drive. so i deleted the files which i have "copied" to the network drive, and went to look at my local mail. now it seems that half the files are missing. apparently, i guess i "moved" when i thought i "copied" ('ctrl + x' as opposed to 'ctrl + c'). while my boss is trying to recover the files on the server, i am trying to see if there is anything i can do at this workstation.
now what i am thinking is, when a file is "moved" on a windows (win xp to be exact) machine, is it basically deleted from one location? it does not go to the recycle bin, so does windwos treat it as a "delete"? if it does, then i suppose i should try to use some undelete programs to see if i can recover the files. if not, is there any way i can recover those "moved" files? the "undo" button is not an option, as i have already taken several other actions since the "move".
suggestions? thanx.
