File recovery <please help

My sister just copied an old version of a file over one she had done alot of work on, is there any way I can recover the updated file?

Not really.

Once you've overwritten the file, it's basically impossible to recover without very special (expensive) hardware.

If it was just deleted, that's no problem, but since it was overwritten, you're probably out of luck.

those programs that do complete wipes of files overwrite the previous files and delete them several times, same principle here, I don't know of any free utilities to do waht you need.
