I have a network; named Workgroup and 5 computers are on it. No server just workstations all connected via a hub.

Currently have internet sharing: works fine!
File and Printer sharing works fine for 4 computers, no need to log on to each other each one is using the guest account to open files or printers on each other.
The problem is with the last computer or should I say the first. I am afraid I am going to have to reinstall unless you guys out there can lend a helping hand. Basically it won't share, unless you enter a login and password that matches an existing user profile on that same computer. Now I have been through the whole WIN2K settings, in admin mode, and I mean thorough and everything thing seems to match what is currently applied to the other 4 pcs.

So anything I have missed! By the way the user of the computer has been frequently installing all kinds of sh@t so I'm thinking maybe some setting that I have overlooked or simply don't know about has been changed.

All help welcome, except questions like "is the guest account enabled?"

I'm guessing that all of the machines in your peer-to-peer are Windows 2k, yes? There's a 'password never expires' check box somewhere in Users management (sorry, I'm not at my W2k box at the moment) as well as a few other items in the Advanced tab; is everything set there like the others....I'm assuming that file and print sharing is enabled.... I've had some hiccups until I made sure that the Advanced tab settings were straight.

yep, everything is fine in that area. I have really checked everything thoroughly, I am not sure what to look for next. Hope I get an lead before Sunday as that is when I am scheduling to reinstall.
