File permissions with an encrypted drive...

I have a TrueCrypt encrypted "drive" that i back up files on. I mounted in Win7 Pro x64 today and got an error message about "read only" access. Once the drive was mounted i tried to change permissions, but it wont let me. I would like to change these permissions back to rw, but cant figure out how (i have been through all the properties options, and things like rename are still absent). Any ideas? Im trying to avoid the move + delete + recreate path. TIA.
