file-inventory software?

Is there any software that would let me check what files are located in HD's of networked (so we could do the check via the network instead of going through all the computers one by one) workstations? I know there are software that checks what applications are installed, but I would need to know about all files in the computer (for example, .doc, .ppt etc.). And it would help if the file-database was searchable (so I could just check the .doc-files for example).

this is an optional we have in auditwizard.com. We don't enable though so I can't tell you if the reports are searchable or what have you. Look into AIDA32 also ...worth a look.

This free app might work for cataloging CD's, Drives, etc. and is searchable. <a class=ftalternatingbarlinklarge href="http://boozet.xepher.net/" target=blank>
