File integrity check on windows ME

Hello everyone,

Here's my problem: my firend's windows ME machine is throwing up bad/missing file errors; it's pretty random, but usually the errors point to missing .dll's or corrupted .dlls

So, is there a command that verifies the integrity of these files.. or is there anyway i can restore just the missing files from a ME cd, witout having to do a complete destructive restore?

any help/suggestions is appreciated! 🙂
 
Start, Run, type SFC. System File Checker. I assume it is a native app on ME. I have spent all of about 3 hours with ME (about the time it took to install and crash several times) but it should have the utility on there.
 
I don't think so. I think such a tool only exists with an NTFS file system. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

Never the less, Windows ME is a horrible OS.
 
Ok, your corrected. 98 had System File Checker natively. FAT or FAT32 only in 98. No idea about ME but my guess would be it has it.

Edit: Google search looks like no SFC in ME.
 
hmm.. yea, i did my research before i posted this topic; as i understand sfc works with 98 but not ME.

Is there any third party application that would do an integrity check?
