Hello,
I am going to be switching to a new system but am worried about the integrity of my data during the move. I want to make sure that my new system doesn't hose my current data only hd so I plan to send the data via my current computer until I then physically place the new drive in the system. I am looking for ways of verifying that files are then exactly the same. I am confused about the various methods and terms such as md5, csv, and crc. I want to move all types of files. I have come to understand that things like csv files are used for things like comic scan collections. It seems that most of the methods are only for compressed files? What I would like is to be able to select a folder or folders and compare it to another folder and for the program to verify bit by bit that the files are indeed identical. It's late and I'm not sure I am conveying too well exactly what I am in search of. I am looking for an easy way of comparing the integrity of files en masse. I would also like to be able to say burn a CD or DVD and have a file on the disc to verify that all of the data on it is intact. I have found that a program like Record Now will verify that a disc burned okay (I guess Nero will as well), but with my older burner, when files were important I would use a feature in an mp3 program AudioCatalyst which would let me compare one file against another, but obviously it was very time consuming. So if anyone understands what I'm talking about, please help...something with a GUI would be nice unless theres another excellent way of doing what I want...thanks a lot...
