File explorer for OSX?

So I'm new to this game and Finder seems quite limited to me. I run xplorer^2 in XP and would like something with the functionality of that. I've found Macintosh Explorer, but maybe you guys know of some other options.

Thanks 🙂

Hmmm, that looks pretty nice...any open source or free alternatives? Don't want to jump on the first app I find.

On a similar note, is there a way to set all folders to list items in detail view rather than the icon view as a default?

Is this on Tiger or Leopard?

On Leopard, you set up your folder how you like it using View Options, and then, at the bottom of the window, press 'Use as Defaults'
On Tiger, after using View Options to set it up how you like it, make sure you have the "All Folder" bubble clicked at hte top of the window.

Terrific. I'll have to test this.

I just bought PathFinder with the 20% off coupon from Mac Santa. The sole reason I bought it was for the breadcrumb trail that leads back to the root drive at the top...I hate that OS X doesn't have that feature (no "back" button if you open up a particular directory, or rather "up" button to go up a directory). So far it's very nice, I have it tied to my Logitech mouse's Search button using Steermouse so my PathFinder window pops up anywhere at the click of a button 🙂

Edit: My only gripe with PathFinder is that it doesn't seem to support dual panes yet, which is a feature I really like in ForkLift. But PathFinder does have tabs, which is nice.

Edit 2: PathFinder has a feature called "Drop Stack" that lets you drop files in to be moved somewhere else. Combined with tabs it's pretty close...not quite as fast but very nice. Plus you can Drop Stack items to a CD, email them, or compress them. Ooo...
