I'll be leaving my current workplace in a few days, and have been using this laptop for over a year. I've been accumulating a lot of personal files and put it on the laptop, and have deleted all my files. However, I want to make sure that any noisy IT people won't be able to recover any of my files in case they try to.

I can't do a low level format. Is there any software that can make sure all my deleted files are unrecoverable?
 
you basically need file shredder type software that will do multiple passes. A while ago I would use zDelete i think it was called. u can delete the file then wipe the hdd (its gonna create a file that takes up all the free space) with multiple passes
