Hey guys,

I just put together a new build:

- Opteron 144
- Asus 8800GTS 320MB
- 1GB DDR
- Antec 430w PSU (with two +12v rails with 16A on each)

The 8800GTS requires 26A on the +12v rail as a minimum, with a 400w total output. I suspect that this is the problem.

I installed XP Pro without a problem, and I can surf the web just fine. Whenever I try to install a program I download (like firefox), it says "file is corrupt".

Any help would be great!

One small update:

I ran Asus PC Probe, and it's saying that I'm getting:

3.22v on the 3.3v rail
11.84v on the 12v rail
4.95v on the 5v rail

Doesn't that mean that my PSU is running within spec? I really wish I could figure this out!

First thing I would check is RAM, but you know your PS is underpowered. You need to face the music and correct that.

There's a difference in amperage draw between idling along and actually using the computer.
