File association acting up

I associated AVI video clips with JetAudio but double clicking onit opens up with Notepad and jibberish content of code. only right clicking and selecting jetaudio or windows player plays them.

I never had this happen in win 2k or win 98 but XP does that to me.
any suggestions to get rid of this issue?
I associated the files from My computer the way I did it in win 98 and 2k.
