File and print sharing

Hi everyone, I've got myself a problem here...😕

I am trying to set up a network between my PC (Win2K) and a laptop(Win98 sec edition)

When I enable file and print sharing on the laptop, he asks me to reboot... I do that but I notice that he
hasn't changed his settings and that file and print sharing is still missin'

I ask myself... How come?

Thx...

Hi,

The TP uses The NDISWAN protocol, a NET FIREWALL, the NOC Extranet Access Client Protocol and TCP/IP...

This laptop is used by my dad on his corporate LAN, so I don't want to fiddle with it too much.

These are his TCP/IP settings:

TCP/ip=>Extranet Access Client adapter

TCP/ip=> Net Firewall (Dial-up adapter)

TCP/ip=> Net Firewall (IBM Token Ring)

TCP/ip=> Net Firewall (Xircom Ethernet)

...

HMM...it doesn't look like TCP/IP is bound directly to the NIC, which I believe it would need to be in order for it to work for what you're trying to do. I'm not familiar with that firewall setup, so hopefully somebody else around here can come up with something helpful.

If I were doing it, I would leave your father setting as it is.

Get NetSwitcher, and set another option for you self, by passing the Firewall by binding TCP/IP directly to the Xircom.

A tip for you EagleClaw .. don;t mess with the NOC Extranet settings, your dad will probably freak if he cant VPN into work =)
We use the same app and it can be finnicky!
