File and Directory Sorting - Windows Explorer

I am running Win7 64 bit Ultimate.

I need to sort and separate volumes of files and directories by date only.

Is there a program that will do this?

Thanks for any direction you might provide.

I'm almost certainly missing something here, but what's insufficient about sorting by date in Explorer?

I was afraid my attempt to be succinct would indeed come across as dim-witted.

I do know what can be done with Explorer, which is really not much. What I wanted was not to destroy or corrupt the master files but rather to be able to sort out files by date of last modification or date range with the option of copying these sorted files to a separate partition. That would leave the Master Files intact and uncorrupted.

I have looked at tons of programs but the only one that appears to have any sophistication is RoboBasket. Would there be a better program than RoboBasket in your opinion?

code65536, that was a hugely helpful link. Thank you so much. I need to look into that as well.

I'm sure I sound a bit vague in my requirements. That's because (here comes the excuse for muddy-headed thinking) I'm still deciding how I want to sort and organize gigabytes of work in progress.

Right now I kind of have things narrowed down to RoboBaket and Belvedere.
