Figuring out Crucial Memory's part #'s ...

I have a Dell Inspiron 8600c

When I go to Crucial.com, I get this module recommended to me

However, the one on the NewEgg site is this one.

What is the difference?

They both say, DDR PC2700 ? CL=2.5 ? UNBUFFERED ? NON-ECC ? DDR333 ? 2.5V ? 128Meg x 64

Why wouldn't I want the $44 cheaper one from NewEgg?

The reviews say the Newegg memory works fine for the Inspiron 8600. The part numbers may be different because the Newegg could be carrying the OEM versions.

Crucial, is expensive ram. Not necessary. I'd personally go with the Newegg, and have $44 to spend on something else. 🙂

Crucial are indeed expensive but their memory chooser is good for finding out exactly what you need if you're trying to upgrade the like of a Dell.

Then armed with that knowledge you can shop around for the lowest price 😉. Their product support and lifetime warranty is good, though.
