Figuring Out Bluetooth

I'm posting this in A/V as I'm using it for A/V, but its as much a bluetooth question about an A/V product as anything.

So here I am:
I've bought a Kensington K33348B Bluetooth adapter for my PC and a Motorolla DC8000 Bluetooth Home Stereo Adapter for my home theater system. The DC800 has both audio-in and audio-out jacks, so I'm assuming I can do what I'm trying to do.

I want to broadcast music from my PC to the DC800, but can't seem to figure out how. Has anyone tried this before?

What OS are you on? I use bluetooth headphones but the process should be similar. Once you have then pair right click on you volume next to the clock on the bottom right of the screen. Click on playback devices. There you should see your bluetooth device. Click it and then click set to default. You may need to restart whatever program your using to play the audio is it was already started which switched playback devices.

This is on Vista but XP should be similar.

I'm on Vista Ultimate 64-bit. I've looked in there, but my bluetooth device doesn't show. All I have are my Realtek devices.

Then something is a miss. Did you pair it? Click on the Vista Orb and type in bluetooth in the search box. Click on add bluetoooth device. Follow the prompts to pair the stereo adaptor with your PC. Then it should show.

When I view Bluetooth Devices I see:
Audio Devices - Motorola DC800.
Under it's Properties : Services Tab I see Audio Sink, Serial port (SPP) 'Dev B' COM3, and Unknown Service.
And Under the Audio Tab I see Motorola DC800 - Stereo Audio Player, and Bluetooth Stereo Audio Device. They both stay disconnected and when I try to connect it just doesn't.

you have to use the drivers on the cd that came with your blu-tooth adapter ! or else it won't work
The windows os drivers don't work 90% of the time
just pop in the cd and use those drivers

I did install the drivers on the CD. I also installed the drivers off of the website as well. In Device Manager I see "Kensington Bluetooth EDR Dongle" with a Driver Provider of Broadcom and "Microsoft Bluetooth Enumerator". Should I uninstall the MS one?

The Kensington BT adapter needs to support the A2DP profile to send high quality stereo audio over BT. Looking at Kensington's website they don't state which BT profiles that adapter supports. Without A2DP support, that dongle won't connect to the Motorola audio adapter.

I had questioned whether if this adpater supported A2DP and I'm brand spanking new to Bluetooth, but this guy (http://blog.raycasey.com/) seems to have had no problem with it working with this particular adapter. Though he did state: "A2DP profile to connect to my Sony Bluetooth speakers (but more on that later as this is an annoying part about default sound devices in Vista control panel) ". I'm going to send a request to Kensington to see if it's supported.
