I think we're doing it out of our own economic interests.

If the poop hits the fan over there and oil shipments are interrupted our, and the world's, economy will tank overnight. And tank bad.

That makes sense at some level. But think about what is really happening. We are starting wars and putting countries into positions to threaten cutting off oil shipments. We have been in a state of war for over a decade. How has the world economy done?
