I didn't realize fighting games were still popular, much less on the PC.
I looked at the release dates for 2011, but nothing caught my eye (they weren't categorized by game type, only by name).
I haven't played a fighting game since Killer Instinct 1 & 2 at the arcade and a little of Street Fighter IV (which I didn't enjoy). I have a KI1 cab here at home, but don't play it much.
I was more of a fan of Street Fighter II and Samurai Shodown series than the Mortal Kombat or Tekken series of games.
Any recommendations?
Anything worth getting a stick for? (price really doesn't concern me.)
I don't know where you found any fighting game releases for 2011. Link please?
From what I know, there are NO fighting game releases planned on PC for 2011 or even 2012 for that matter. Saying the word PC and "Fighting Game" in one sentence has become somewhat of an oxymoron. I cant see a good reason why though, and I strongly resent that.
From what I seen, most fighting games on the PC tend to suck ass. They tend to be crappy console ports at best, and at worse, well... I wont even go there.
One big exception is Street Fighter IV and One Must Fall 2097, but again let's not go there, and even if we were to go there, lets remember that Capcom explicitly stated that there are NO PLANS FOR SUPER STREET FIGHTER IV release on PC. Like EVER. So yeah...
Apparently Capcom mentioned piracy as the primary reason for this decision, but this is complete BS, because anyone who took their gaming seriously bought a copy of SFIV, since pirated copies could not play online without a legit CD-Key. Whatever...
Anyway.. Let us look at other games that did come out for PC.
Street Fighter Alpha 2 - Had huge resolution issues. Didn't adjust well to monitors resolution. Tearing, artifacts, jagged edges, you name it...
Melty Blood Act Cadenza - Again, all the same issues with resolution, jagged edges, etc. What a god damn shame! It could have been great!
Blaz Blue - didn't play it, but apparently it suffers from all the same issues, yet again. Can anyone confirm or say I'm wrong?
Mortal Kombat, Mortal Kombat 3 and Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3. - These were actually pretty good.
Mortal Kombat 4 - Again, it was fine, but hard to get in it's day.
There are some rumors that the new Mortal Kombat may come out for PC, but I am not holding my fingers crossed on this one.
Let's face it. Computers and Fighting games just don't go together, because game devs don't feel good about releasing them on any other platform other than consoles.
