Virtua Fighter Evolution has three buttons - punch, kick, guard . . . I haven't played the console version of SCII yet, but I can say that VFE is better 😉.
The last fighting game I owned was Street Fighter II for SNES. I couldn't do moves on the right side of the screen even... I still can't! 😱 I hope if I play long enough I can do something other than hitting high attack all the time. 🙁
I still like the old Karate game from a long time ago where each person just had 2 joysticks and if you moved them in certain ways you'd do certain moves. Left one Up, right one RIght would do a flyign side kick. Both Up would do a jumping flip, etc. That game rocked.

I just got a Neo Geo Pocket Color Arcade and lemme tell you how refreshing it is to play Samurai Showdown and only have 2 buttons to deal with 🙂
Already got everything in Weapon Master mode for SC2. Link is insane and the combos are easy. Now... F-Zero GX on the other hand is kicking my ass on very hard 🙁
