Got pulled over today for making an extremely convenient left turn in a spot that didn't allow left turns. Cops are not stupid and as soon as I did, I saw the flashing lights. I had no idea where he even came from. Lol. The fine ended up being 110$ and some change. Do you guys usually fight citations? Is it worth fighting it or should I just man up and pay the friggen thing.

You got busted doing something that you KNOW was illegal...and you want to fight the ticket?

Good luck. Take it to court and ask for traffic school. It sounds like you need it.

Everyone that speeds knows its illegal. Yet people still fight plenty of speeding tickets. I think i'm just going to pay it, there were no points put on my license, so fuck it.

If it has no effect on your license just pay it. Otherwise, look to see if you can do traffic school instead of the fine. Sounds like you could use it.

I had a friend who successfully fought a speeding ticket, but he knew damn well that the law required so many signs be posted so far apart and got off on a technicality.

Another guy I know was using a radar detector and our state doesn't allow them. When it went off he slowed down for a few minutes and then sped back up again. The radar hit him again and he slowed down. The cop pulled him over, searched the car, and asked where the radar detector was hidden. My friend just looked at him and said, "I'm just trying to get home in time to watch my tv show. I know you have a quota of tickets to hand out, but if you prefer to waste more time looking help yourself."

The cop let him go.

You can schedule a hearing and if the officer doesn't show, then you get off.

It's your time + luck/probably losing vs guaranteed money loss.

If you did something wrong, pay it. If you didn't, fight it to the death.

"Wrong" is definitely "relative". I will fight every speeding ticket or whatever. Hell, you should fight for everything in life or you'll just get stepped all over.

It also doesn't help that the whole point of the Legal system is whoever wins is the right.

And this is why many people are considered dumb.

If you did something wrong, accept the consequences and don't waste everyones time.

A smart person decides what's worth fighting for and what's not. A small $110 citation in which was clearly violating a posted rule is not something worth fighting over.

True, if I was a banker working on Wall St I would have my secretary expense it out lol.

It depends on how much that $110 is worth to you

Wrong or right is not clear cut. If everyone decides women can't vote or Gays can't married, that's one "right" I guess. Until someone fights for it to be a "wrong".

So far States are sticking to the 55mph or 65mph deal, somehow I feel they received those numbers from Jesus or something.

People do things all the time and accept consequences I think, and fighting and winning is a possible consequence, as well as fighting and losing. Many people with resources don't have consequences either, but anyway thankfully we're allowed to fight for anything around here.

You do realize those speed limit numbers are not just thrown up there for fun right?

Wow, you're a sad, sorry little man. But I will qualify my statement: if you break the law, pay the penalty.

Yes, I am sad sorry little man (though I am most certainly larger than you in real life). Wonderful display of personal attack to support your position.

Laws are made by man and as you yourself have demonstrated quite sufficiently, are quite prone to both apathy and thoughtless appeals to authority.

Hell, maybe all of us gays should just give up and lock ourselves up in mental facilities. :hmm:

Are you seriously comparing traffic laws to laws about the civil rights of gays?

You wanna fight injustice, fight injustice. But be willing to pay the consequences for the fight. What we're talking about isn't injustice, however. It's you thinking you're worth a shit and don't have to obey the law like everyone else. Some day reality will butt fuck you to death and you'll wake up from your self-centered delusions. Until then the world will continue to pity and ridicule you.

Nope, no one obeys laws in the same way like anyone else does, you seem to be fairly naive. Who are you to say speed limits are not injustice? I mean, wow, it was of course, only natural that women are inferior than men and that slaves were disposable before people bothered to question any of that.

I can see the other thread about the whole forum consisting of large amounts of douchebags to be correct... why even bother posting here? I guess there isn't much of a point.

Yes of course, I am gay and I consider many traffic laws to be egregious.

But also - of course, since these two non-sequiters appear in the same paragraph - they must of course clearly be commensurate.
