Fight the RIAA!

Lets all fight the RIAA. Don't buy any music CDS for, say, a year. I doubt they will be able to sue anyone without funds. 🙂

Yeah, like this is going to happen.

I've never bought music, it's always been bought for me.

So I have only a few CD's, ones given as gifts and such.

Other than that, I just listen to the radio.

Just need to make a waste group of all buddies and ATOT friends 🙂 Isn't that system completely encrypted and safe from being tapped into unless given permission?

I'm already a step ahead of you all. I haven't bought a cd in 23 years! Yes, that's right, i've never ever bought a music cd nor Movie (whether it be VHS or DVD) in my life! Take that RIAA!!!

Uh, well, by saying that you're basically saying "down with musicians and music!" because they're the one's that'll go broke...

While I sure don't like the RIAA and don't support them, I wouldn't go and boycott the music industry...

only if you stop attending concerts and such. musicians don't make that much off record sales.

I know another way to get the RIAA to stop suing people...are you ready?
Stop downloading music for free.

Nope, support their concerts. They make the real money from concerts.

Musicians make hardly any money from cd's. Their money comes from tours and merchandise sales.

although Clear Channel (owns +75% US radio stations) makes more money off concerts than artists.

why? because Clear Channel uses its monopoly power to force all major music concerts to be funded/sponsored by them or else they refuse to advertise that particular concert at all on their radio stations. this is also why clear channel stations always have a bazillion tickets to give away in contests.

Way ahead of you there. I haven't bought a new CD in years. Mostly because modern music is utter cr@p, but that's rather beside the point.

The only CDs I buy (the odd time I do) are used. This way I save $$ on CDs, support small businesses, recycle, and screw the RIAA. I've asked at some of the shops I go to, and no royalities are paid on anything they sell.

Sure, you could argue that this is not supporting independant artists, but, really the odds of finding them in such stores is slim anyway.
