FIGHT CLUB! homosexual overtones for sure, but racism? Any input?

So far, after watching the movie for the second time, i've compiled a little list to support the following:

Homosexuality

-sweaty, half naked men beating on each other
-attending testicular cancer (read:men with no balls) groups, "males" hugging, crying on each other
-after the first fight between Tyler and Norton, they both fell down together, as if they were two lovers who just made sex
-Tyler's splicing penises into movie reels
-the obcession with castration

Racism

-lack of non-fair-skinned men in the fight club
-the only time a non-white man showed up was when Tyler had a gun pointed at the back of the Asian grocer's head.

-

Am I missing anything for racism? It seems kinda lop sided so far, there's so much evidence on homosexuality. Besides for the anti capitalist and anti materialist thing, could there be anything major that i skipped?

Is there a reason you really want to find homosexuality in Fight Club?

It's not racism, they just got a bunch of white guys cause we just look so cool :p

But really, the whole movie's point is american consumerism.

i heard some guys talking on the radio about whether or not WWE was homo-erotic. People that think about testosterone driven shows / movies that much aught to pre-occupy their time with more productive things.

well tyler and norton are as as much lovers as you are to your hand. beating the living pulp out of guys and castrating and making fun of the penis are hardly homosexual. As for racism, who cares about the other races? :)

Do you compile lists for each movie you watch? Do PeeWee's Big Adventure next, that bathtub scene was pretty intense. I was almost moved to experimentation.

well the wwe is obviously gay pr0n though. big hot sweaty men ...man on man contact, tight little outfits, and all that drama!! goes back to the 1950s~ famous metrosexual wrestler called gorgeous george.

not exactly the same as fight club:)

yeah. I was big into WWF when I was a teen for similar reasons ;)

fightclub != homoerotic. it's more mysogonist (sp) than anything else. I can see the racism argument, though... The book has a lot to do with middle-class angst. Maybe the director is saying that middle class = white.

Aye, this is for an essay. I have to deal with overt and hidden meanings/signs, stuff like that. I don't think i'm that much of a homophobe, but if it helps me to write this paper, then homophobe i am.

If you watch the directors cuts, they actually go at it in a shower. It's hot. Then later on you think... how did he have sex with himself?

Norton took it in American History X... but thats a different story.
As for homo-males, they lack the balls to produce enough testosterone to act like a real man.

I'd say your ability to make homosexual situations out of the simplest things makes you either a huge homophobe, or a huge homosexual.

The movie was about the ordinary worker going out into something totally new. Desk Jockeys abandoning their GQ lifestyles to be a part of Fight Club... It would make more sense that the guys have a white majority.

You're reading too much into the movie. I think you've got nothing better to do.

Chuck P., who wrote the book, is a homosexual. So, yeah, Fight Club is an ode to homosexuality and very male chauvinistic.

I wouldn't say it's an ode to homosexuality, but the overtones are definitely there and Palahniuk is an admitted homosexual.

Who cares? The movie/book rocked, as do all of Chuck's books.

There was at least one black guy in Fight club. He kicks the sh!t out of Ed Norton in one of the fights...it's when he has to go to the hospital to get stitches.

The book and the movie are gay softcore pron, at least as much as early Ah-nold movies (thigh close ups, glistening sweaty male bodies, heavy breathing, so on). I do like them both though.

And I thought that Diary was a pretty bad book, all this venturing into S. King's territory is not working well after Lullaby.
