FIFA 10 thread

I hadn't played FIFA since 2002 and picked up 09 for Xbox 3 months back. Now I am thinking of getting Fifa 10. Let me know what your thoughts, reviews, and experiences are. There isn't a thread for this game yet, so I figured we could get one going. Remember to note what platform you are playing on.

I played the XBL demo and it seemed a bit more refined than 09, the graphics were tweaked, I could notice an improvement in the player hustling physics, and the ball seemed to 'feel' like it had a bit more weight to it. Almost like each shot had more of a driven effect to it, which I liked since in 09 the ball didn't feel like it had much weight to it and whenever you shot it just seems to float.

Cheers.

FIFA 10 is the best soccer game out. They just added tweaks refinements to FIFA 09 which was also very good. If you're looking for a soccer game FIFA10 is pretty much the best/only option.

They also added movement in any direction which is a subtle change, but it makes the gameplay flow much better than previous games.

I played the hell out of the demo with my frugal friends and even they paid full retail price on launch day. It's a fantastic game. It addresses most of the issues I had with the PES series, which is sweet.

I'm a huge soccer fan. I may have to pick this up for PS3 or 360. I only own 1 game for my PS3 right now, so to justify getting that system, it may just be for PS3.

Any comparisons from people who own or played both FIFA 09 and FIFA 10? I don't really like soccer but FIFA is a fun game that my brothers and I will play together in order to be on the same team.

I could be off base here and this is just my opinion, but FIFA lately is more geared to us Soccer fans and players comfortable with the tactics and nuances of the real life game. FIFA over time has become more of a sim rather than a light arcade game where one guy can just run through defenses and pepper the goal with shots. The game today is deep and requires patience and tactics. If you enjoy the game of soccer, FIFA can't be beat. However, if you're looking for a quick, arcady game, you may not find it here.

Oh, and the ability to lock into one created player and play through games/careers/tourneys with friends playing as other created players is an absolute blast. The Be A Pro mode that debuted with FIFA 08 was great and my friend and I loved playing through (technically started with the UEFA CL version of the game, I believe) the game.

if you mean slide tackle, then no. That's not how soccer is played. I guess you could turn off penalties and just slide tackle/injure everyone with no cards though.

FIFA has become as tdawg said a sim style soccer game. A lot of effort has been taken to make it play and follow the rules of an actual soccer match. It emphasizes realism over arcade style play, and is one of the best soccer games I've ever played.

In reference to 09, FIFA10 is pretty much an evolution of everything from 09, a lot of small changes were made to the core systems (movement, dribbling, AI) etc so it doesn't feel like a large jump but the new additions in FIFA10 are worth it. I'm just so excited that they added the free movement stuff, so much nicer

:(

Why have a tackle button if you're not even allowed to do it?! :|

Turning off penalties though sounds promising...I might have to give this one a rental. :D

Thanks. My brother has FIFA 09 and will bring it over and we'll play it just to be able to yell and blame each other for borked up plays. :) He was debating upgrading to FIFA 10 but we weren't sure what the differences were.

My roommates and I lova Fifa. We play daily. All of us are decent, but not amazing.

Overall, Fifa10 is great so far. We're all enjoying it.

If anyone knows what Barcelona's weaknesses are, please let me know. One of my roommate ONLY plays with Barcelona and he wins like 80% of the time. Drives me fucking crazy.

Punch him in the face until he quits playing Barca. Or you could edit the roster when he's gone and dump half their players ;)

Also, this game is waaaay harder once you turn the assists to Semi and turn off the Through Pass assist.

heh, they don't have many. Try playing as a comparable team like, Real Madrid, Man U, Arsenal, Chelsea etc.

Also if he plays aggressively with his defenders try beating him on quick transitions with through passes and quick side of field changes. Also getting a run down a sideline and crossing can cause a defense to break down. Other than that try to be passive when he is attacking and time your tackles etc for opportune moments, and try double teaming a player if you need help.

I think they make Fifa Street still, that would be the arcady compliment to Fifa. I have not played Fifa Street, but turning penalties off and tackling everything that moves is fun when you have none footie fanatic friends come over to play. Always good for some laughs and excitement. Also, turn off offsides and just go long ball on each play.

BTW- tackling is only illegal if it's not done from the front or if it's done with intent to injure.

Anyone have any idea how to get the match results e-mailed to them in FIFA 10?

a friend of mine has it set up but doesn't remember how he did it. Where do you register for that? -- seems like it would be real cool.
