Castro was/is like Mugabe...a revolutionary that overthrew an oppressive regime to only then become the oppressor. Is it that they felt they were the best person to continue the ideals of their revolution and therefor could not let go of power? Best intentions gone awry? Proof that absolute power corrupts absolutely? Probably a mix of all that.
Castro and Mugabe are not comparable...
However, the Human Development Index of Cuba still ranks much higher than the vast majority of Latin American nations.
the poverty level reported by the government is one of the lowest in the developing world, ranking 6th out of 108 countries, 4th in Latin America and 48th among all countries.
So they have better situation than most of the american US puppeted countries, i thought that capitalism could do miracles, lol..
And this despite a criminal embargo from the dictorial state of USA whose policy is basically to make all she can to starve the cuban people in the hope that they would revolt against the authorities...

So much for the absolute power that lead to corruption, the corrupted hyperpower is the government of the US that tried to re install thieves and other gangsters as the masters of Cuba, it s indiscutable that the biggest criminal, and by far, in respect of the cuban people are the successive US governments.
