I've got an older fic pt-2006 board here (socket 7..) .. I'm trying to get it working with win98, but I can't get a mouse going on it. I've tried a few connectors, checked the mouse, and checked the comport settings in the bios, nothing .. does anyone know if this board uses some proprietary connector, if so, where i might get one, or how i could modify mine to fit?

thanks

its a serial connector, it shouldnt need a driver to be detected.

if this stupid thing uses a proprietary connector, i need to find the pinout for it. anyone know where i could get that?

Here's the manual for the board....but I have one of those mobos, I don't think the com port connectors are nonstandard...

do you think you could do me a favor, and pull back the cover on the end of the connector, and make me a diagram of how the wires are? ive tried two different ones, no go, the port shows as working fine in windows so i can only guess thats the problem ..

the one i have here is straight through.. im guessing the one i need has one of the wires crossed somewhere or something, i cant imagine why else it wouldnt work.. i doubt it needs to be made out of some amazing material to work ;/

Well, I'm sure glad I got into this! I pieced together a test setup with a serial mouse....nothing. Tried several connectors...nothing. Tried and old ISA IDE card with a serial port....nothing. I did manage to find a PS/2 mouse connector in my drawer, though....that works. But that's the only way I was able to get a mouse working. Strange....
