FIC AZ11 Won't Boot

noninterleaved

Senior member
I have had nothing but trouble with this mobo... tried to boot up this morning and this is the error message I get. It displays right after my Voodoo 5500 AGP BIOS message.

Where I should see the mobo's BIOS perform its POST, instead of seeing that I get:

Award BootBlock BIOS v1.0
Copyright (c) 1998, Award Software, INC

BIOS ROM checksum error

Detecting floppy drive A media...
INSERT SYSTEM DISK AND PRESS ENTER

well... I tried booting off of my win98 setup disk, and it cant detect anything. No CDROM or HDD... also it shows a bunch of memory manager errors, like can't estables XMS because VDISK is already running or something.

So I think my BIOS is totally fried... i didn't flash it or anything, in fact I have never updated it. Thus I don't have a backup copy on disk anywhere either.

Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks.

Wow that is crazy man. I just got a AZ11 and so far so good. Have you tried resetting the Bios? (There is a Jumper on the MoBo for it), try that. If you havent actully flashed it or anything I dont see how your bios could be "Fried".

Someone in another forum had a checksum error with his EPOX board.
He re-seated his MB battery and that fixed it......

Well crap. No luck.

I was getting ready to go out of town in a couple of days and was hoping to be able to log into this machine to pull files from the ftp.

This really sucks.

No $$$ to pick up a quick replacement mobo either.

Thanks for the advice anyways.

In case anyone cares, don't buy an AZ11. I dunno about the AZ11E... but my AZ11 has totally sucked since I got it. Was not too reliable or anything. No temp monitoring either... kinda sucks.

Anyways, later.
