Fry's is clearing out the FIC AT31 for $39. This is a "nforce" competitior. It comes with built in audio, radeon video and lan. Only 3 PCI slots but the board is tiny. It goes for $55 at newegg.

The reviews I've read suggest the board is funky and unstable. Some folks seem to get the board to behave adequately by disabling ACPI. I wish Fry's would stock a nice, reliable onboard video VIA KM266 or Nforce 220-D board & bundle it in a combo or put it on clearance.

aren't you kind of asking for a lot? you want a good motherboard and then want them to blow it out on clearance--i think they only blow out the crap. and the ATi chipset coupled with a Via 686B southbridge is pure crap.

I've seen some decent boards on clearance at Fry's. A couple of years ago I bought a pair of Epox KT133A boards for $39 a throw (for a while it seemed like Fry's was going to become a major Epox distributor, but these days they only carry a couple of Epox boards). Fry's recently had an OK Albatron KT400 board for $49. If fact these days most boards are quite reasonable (if you shun PCCHIPS, at least). Most of the current chipsets are stable with major OSs, just not this particular one.
