I am wondering if you can put anything higher than a 1.2 athlon in this motherboard. I want to upgrade and if I can put a XP 1700 or higher in, that would be great.

Apparently, you can.

Processor
AMD Duron? Socket A 600~950MHz@200MHz FSB

AMD Athlon? Socket A 700MHz~1.4GHz@200MHz FSB

AMD Athlon? Socket A 1GHz~1.4GHz@266MHz FSB

* AMD Athlon? XP Socket A 1500+~1800+ 2000+ @266MHz FSB

* must have version 1.2A Please read FAQ #4 for reference

That's from FIC's site. See here.

If you have a 1.2A revision motherboard, you'll be able to. Or so I read.

I have a rev 1.2 version of the board, currently running a 1.4 gig Athlon. But since it auto senses the chip speed, voltage and multipler, it's likely that Athlon XP's with a 266fsb should work. After all, it runs PC2100 anyways......:wine:

One of my students is running a new 1800+ palamino (thanks Belial) on this board and it's smooth. Also have a 1600+ on this board I threw together just to make use of old parts which runs fine. Hope you have a good time with your upgrade.
