Fibre Channel drive question

I have a question about fibre channel harddrives and controllers... why exactly are they so inexpensive compared to other forms of SCSI Harddrives? I don't know much about fibre channel at all so please start with some basics for me if anyone would like to answer... I see 10 packs of 18gb fibre channel 10k RPM harddrives go for less than $200, and it seems like they are a great deal, but I'm leary about what the problems with them are if they are so inexpensive. And, is fibre channel really SCSI at all? Thanks for any responses

The drives are cheap because the controllers, cages and cabling are outrageously expensive and not adapted for use by the average bear.
