Hello friends I am working on FIBER OPTIC NETWORKING


Some problems i have encountered on which i would like to have your
suggestions


1 > what are the most important parameters and critical points of fiber
optic networking


I am working on connectors , fiber optic testing , fiber mux ,
convertors , routers , switch and fiber optic modems .


2 > What is the concept of DWDM in fiber optic networking , I am doing networking of PCs of a big mechanical industry but i am not able to understand the concept of DWDM in it .

3> Please explain the difference between DWDM networking and IP networking

4 > Please explain series of connection in fiberoptic networking like .....


desktop - lan - switch ---- ???????


please tell me the sequence in which we connect fiber optic hardware


5> How useful is to open fiber optic networking instruments , making note of ICs although I am paying heed to fibers , connectors and terminations too


Yet I havent studied Fiber Optics as a course subject and i am doing
project on it .I am studying material side by side so I might miss
something .

If you find anything silly in my questions then too let me know , I want myself to be corrected .

1) bandwidth and loss - its that easy
2) DWDM - a mux that uses different frequencies of light and muxes the parallel bit streams into the fiber.
3) DWDM isn't really networking, it is a transport technique. IP networking is networking with IP - a collection of networks...a internetwork connected by routers
4) Fiber is nothing more than a cable. There is nothing special about it. You just it just like you would a copper cable

Maybe google on fiber optic faq? Also try SONET and Optical Carrier.

There really isn't such a thing as fiber optic networking (well kinda - SONET is founded in optics). The fiber is just a cable - you spit bits into it and they come out the other end.
