i have two of these coming. Media Converters ST

Fiber cable that exists is MM ATT Accumax Optical Cable A LGBC 008DLPX 62.5/125 93032411 Type OFNP

What I need to know, is what kind of adapters do I need and termination plugs? I will call Sheilds or Graybar here to see if they have them...

Thanks for the help on this new adventure. Any advice like on things to watch out for, would be greatly appreciated.

JC

that looks like ST connection.

Have the fiber terminated with ST connectors.

Better yet, have the fiber terminated with ST connector into some kind of fiber patch panel and then use ST-ST patch cords to connect the equipment.

no fiber patch panel. I have a switch on the other end, this is a a engineering shop. The cat5 drops are already there, and the home run area is connected to the shop with fiber. The ends have been cut, so i am getting the media converters, just need to know what kind of connectors i need.

thanks for your help

well that really does look like ST.

How about the switch side? You have another 100 Base-FX port there right? Or are you just using two media converters?

yes, I am using two media converters....one side is the home run with 24 port switch going to server and all clients, the other side in the shop will have the other media converter and a 16 port switch to harbor the other drops.

I have access to a crimp and polish tool... I am hoping it goes well.

thanks again mate

well terminating fiber can be tricky if you've never done it before.

you may want to pay somebody for the terminations.

I still don't do my own fiber. It is -very- much worth to pay someone who is experienced to come out and do it ... make sure you look over their shoulder though 🙂
