I know the thing is tiny, but it's a cute cheap car that gets good mileage and still functions as a car. The snob factor of getting a less well known, cute, European car that has some "environmentally friendly" credibility will sell plenty of these things.

if the cinquecento is a success will ford bring over the ka? they're the same platform but ford worked their suspension magic on the ka so they drive really differently

Maybe, but they may not want to split the sales on the Fiesta. If they can't get a large enough differentiation between the two models (by price or marketing) they may chose not to.
