FFXIV Runs like hell?

Just so nobody asks me..

Got a 2.6ghz i7
gtx 260
6gb ram

And FFXIV probably runs at around 15fps with no AA. It runs like absolute ass. And the game isnt even that demanding. I've tried to google this and came up with nothing.

I can play crysis at max settings and it runs very well.

Anyone had or have a similiar problem where the game runs extremely slow?

Kinda excited to play open beta but its not even possible at 15fps.

I'm really surprised so many people are preordering this game. I'm sure its a great game. But in its current state its literally unplayable. I'm actually shocked they would consider releasing this game in its obviously horrendously unoptimized state.

That and the interface, voice acting, targeting and the boring combat makes kittens everywhere explode into a ball of fire.

The game really runs like ass on nvidia cards. I think ati cards were almost double the fps or so. Also sli/xfire did worse than single cards if I remember correctly.

I will need to see about Ambient Occlusion. I play on a laptop which only has a 5470 and my FPS is terrible and when I get to an area the NPC's and PC's can take up to 5 minutes to appear.

I haven't preordered the game and doubt I will buy it unless I can ensure it will run well.

Yeah, this game is way to power hungry... It seems really silly to produce a game that has such a limited install base. Maybe they tried to future proof the graphics a little too much.

I'm just surprised nobody on the dev team thought one day.. "hey! 95% of players are running at 10fps-15fps and our graphics are sub-par... we do something wrong?"

I'll never understand what goes through their heads when they decide to release games (especially MMO's) in a shape like this.

Honestly i hope they fix it, i might buy it and give it a try. But if they dont, and the game crashes and burns.. it will definitely bring a smile to my face and i'll say they deserved nothing less than epic fail.

I ran it alright on an 8800GT and a Q6600@3.6ghz at 1920x1200.

Had to turn down a few options, but still decent image quality and playable frame rates (suffered a bit by the crystals though). Bought a GTX 470 recently so much better now though.

Sounds like you are either trying to turn on too much at high resoltuions, or you have a computer problem.

Running the game with HBAO off, rest maxed/on, 4xAA at 1920x1080 yields ~30 fps on my 3.6GHz Q9450 and HD5970. Forcing CrossFire to run in AFR mode boosts the fps by about 20 ish.

I get the feeling that the PC version of this game is going to die really quick. The hardware requirements are just absurd.
