Ha, sounds like my last episode with ATTBI tech support. 'Cept he was the one going "uh...what?" Lol. I tell them all the steps that I have tried prior to calling them, then they usually send me straight over to Tier 2.

I tell my customers to ask directly for Tier2.

I tried that, but the guy starts asking me questions anyway, "Is the modem plugged in correctly?"

After laughing at him, and asking if he was serious, I then began my long list of crap that I had already tried.:) He stopped me about halfway through and transferred me.

Not a bad experience, just humorous.

Doesn't matter. If you insist on Tier2, they're required to transfer you. Tell them this. If they still refuse, say something like "well, I was talking to a Tier2 and I got disconnected. Transfer me!" and they should. Those "I got disconnected" words are like magic. ;)

yeah... my last sale of the day was a woman who wouldn't answer when i asked her a question and would ask the same question of me 3 times.
"can i get your name?"
...
"hello?"
"hello."
"can i get your name?"
...

"looks like we're out of stock on that, estimated ship date is on or before the 30th"
...
"is that ok?"
...
"hello?
"hello"

I just recently got ATTBI and when they came to hook up the cable modem they didn't even tell us we had to call to register anything?? my friend was the one who told me to do it. and when i called them, they tried to set up the proxy servers and it didn't work but couldn't figure out why. then they transferred me to tier 2. the guy THERE told me how to do it and i was on the net in a couple of minutes. i really didn't see why tier 1 couldn't have told me what tier 2 did. it was REALLY simple. what is tier 1 for except to waste time before they transfer u over???

next time, can i just call you nik? hehe.

I'll give you my cell number if you need help in the future. :)

Seriously, tier1 is SUPPOSED to do all of that. They're supposed to set proxies and walk you through registration or just point you in the right direction with all settings and directions. They never do. When a customer calls in saying that they're modem lights are all blinking and they don't have a connection, virtually ALL of the Tier1 techs will walk a customer through clearing cache and cookies and rebooting. Now... what's wrong with this picture?

OMG... I'm sitting here fixing this guy's problem and when it's fixed, he goes

customer: "yeah, the other tech told me to check that check box" (leave messages on server in Outlook Express)
me: "yeah, the other technician was a looney"
customer: "yeah, that's Tier2 for ya."
me: :Q *evil grin* "... You're talking to a Tier2 tech, sir."
customer: "...uh... oh."
me: "yeah, some of us are actually trained and can be nice to customers"
customer: "....okay."

When the tech showed up to hook me up I had everything done. All he had to do was add a splitter to the line that I had already run. He left and I started installing the software but couldn't connect. I called, they walked me thru a couple of things but nothing worked so they said that they would have to sent the tech back out and charge me $49. I said ok, then went to watch TV. My TV reception was gone. I thought hmmm... I went out and the tech had hooked the splitter up wrong. I re did it, got the connection going and called and canceled the tech. The next month I got a bill for $49 for the tech, plus I didn't get my discounts. I've had it for 3 months and every month my bill is wrong and I have to call them.
