I'm helping a friend who recently bought a 50" LCD HDTV. He has a computer hooked up to the tv with a vga cable and plans to use this setup for big screen gaming, music, and maybe dvds. I've been testing Zoom Player with ffdshow and so far I can't say that I'm impressed. I currently have it configured as shown in this article except that I am using the PowerDVD decoder. When I put the settings to show only on the right half I can see the difference but in general I can not tell the difference between the quality using ffdshow and just using PowerDVD.
This testing was done on a 1024x768 LCD monitor. I would like to know what ffdshow users think of the quality and what settings they are using. Will the difference be very noticeable on the 50" tv? Better than his Sony progressive scan player?
The computer is a 3200+ A64 so it should be able to handle a few filters.
