I just bought this card (its PCI) to solely play Final Fantasy 7, as its said to be fully supported in the readme. Now when I play about with FF7config, it says 8-bit paletted textures fail.....what the hell? So far I'm now fubared doing this with a Voodoo 1, Voodoo 2 and now the Rage Pro AIW.....

What am I missing?

I'm not sure about the ATI Rage, but the Voodoo 1 and 2 should support Palletized textures - at least they did for me back in the day when I played it.

Only problem, the Voodoo 2 drivers I found for XP are the uber suck, unstable and such. MAH!

I just tried re-installing the voodoo 2, and it seems only the Glide accelleration is available.....*cries*

I wish I had a copy of Win ME or 98, that would solve everything.

I remember when I played it (many years ago) on a riva tnt2 it also gave that error. but i finished the game without major graphical glitches.

you can still play it right?

Heh I still have that game... played it ages ago with onboard video. Wonder how it'd look with a 9700 pro... probably not much better if it even works.

See thats whats baffling me, I have the proper card, but no support. WTH? Is the AIW lacking this feature?

Did you install the patch which is supposed to fix the issue? I remember if you didn't install it on the Riva TNT, there would be all sorts of strange issues with the backdrops.

Yeah I did the patch thingy, to no avail. I wish I hadn't ever bought the PC version of this game instead of the PS1 version, things would've been so much easier.

Have you tried Win95 or Win98 compatibility modes?

That may actually work.

Just for playing FF7. I had a wave of nostalgia a while ago and it has yet to pass.

thats right, its called the riva tnt patch for ff7, if u have an ati card, just tick that u have a tnt and it should work with 3d acceleration.

I tried it, to no avail. Nothing seems to be working, so I'm hunting for a copy of it for the PS1....so if anyone wants to trade an AIW Rage Pro...... :D
