Ladies and Gentlemen, this is a perfect example of the phenomenon of "bullshot," wherein a game developer cooks up a "screenshot" that is a billion times better than anything you will ever come close to seeing in the game.

It's for PS3, right? The visuals don't look any more impressive than any other game, really. Sure, it looks cool, but gameplay will be more important for a FF.

This and gran turismo are the only reasons i'd consider a PS3...

I haven't played a final fantasy game since FFX...i hate online games so FFXI was out, and i played a demo of FFXII and i didn't like the gameplay (felt like an action rpg)...

except for the fact that this team has been hard at work on both the engine and the game coding itself.
the FFX team created the FFVII tech-demo shown at last year's E3, and it was a realtime demo. Immediately following that they began work on FFXIII, so I'd have to say that those visuals in the FFXIII screenshots will look nearly identical to the final release.

And we are to believe you because? You're also a multi-million dollar company that has created a game franchise that has outlived 4 consoles?

If you honestly think Sony will not be at the top once again, you're not a realist, but a pessimist. They have the greatest world wide market recognition, the apps and despite their albeit rediculous pricepoint, will sell millions whether a few consumers don't like it or not. Gamers will buy the PS3 just to play the new Tekkens, the new Gran Turismos, the new Final Fantasy games, the Devil May Cry games, the God of Wars, the SOCOMs and so on. The apps carry the console, and no one else has a stronger line up then sony, that's fact. Until Microsoft and Nintendo start getting the Tekkens, and Final Fantasy games up to the quality on Sony machines, things will stay virtually the same.

LOL James ... stop being so defensive about the PS3 :p

but seriously, if you really think that the game will look that good ... in real time ... running on the ps3 ... just go look up the "killzone trailer e3 2005" and read about that whole thing.

as someone stated earlier, this is another bullshot.

EDIT: but regardless ... the pic looks good.

hey man, i just think it's rediculous that one console that has yet to be released is constantly getting downed by people. It's just so annoying to see everyone say, "$600 who's going to pay for that?" "PS3 is done" blah blah, why does it annoy me? Because it bothers me when people just don't get the facts and like to talk out their necks.

arg, when will they understand that anything that remotely resembles HDR SUCKS?!

I HATE HDR w/ great great passion. It's the worse graphical gimmick to ever grace gaming ever. I hate the blurriness, and makes the game unnessarily look retarded. I want my games crisp and clean w/ clean shadoes. Of course, the ONLY game that implements HDR somehwat correctly is DoD. HL2 w/ HDR sucks, but DoD implements it what it should be. Dust1 in CSS has the worse implementation of it ever. I hate it how you can't turn that sh!t off in consoles.

other than that, the game looks pretty cool.

you should know CS:S's HDR and HL2's HDR are WAY different. HL2's implementation has always been said to be the best proprietary coding out there, and I personally agree. It look's realistic to me.
