FF VIII, any good????

Hi all,
I just got this game cheap and wonder if its any good on the PC. I never played any of the games in the series. Will I like it at all??? I have played RPG like BG2 and wonder how it compares. Is it similar??? I read reviews that the controls and camera views are a pain.

LMK your thoughts.
 
I liked all of the Final Fantasy games a lot. They're quite different than Baldur's Gate, since FF is an extremely linear plot and stuff like that. It's almost like an interactive movie. Still, I love the games. I can't wait to play FF9.
 
FF8 pales in comparison to FF6, FF7, and FF9, but is not a terrible game by any stretch of the imagination. I would highly recommend FF7 for the PC, and if you have a Playstation, FF9 is an incredible game. Just my $.02
