Fewer Americans are visiting Canada?

I'm going to Alberta/BC in August so I called the tourist offices in each province.

It seems that American tourism in Canada is way down as a consequence of Canada's position on the Iraq war and SARS.

Neither one seems like a very good reason not to visit Canada.

I'd goto Canada, if I had a reason to. I go there on business sometimes.

Why would SARS affect Canada as a whole, when the only cases have been in TO?

But to tell you the truth, I haven't heard of a single place where tourism is doing well.

it is because the dollar is doing so poorly against the CAD. Why go to Canada when it will cost you a ton to visit?

Both are rather childish reasons. Not much you can do about it. Ignorance is bliss!

Enjoy your trip.. The Canadian Rockies Rule! :D

Calgary is a very nice place :D

Thanks, I'm sure I will.

Here's my tentative plan.

Sunday -> Arrive Missoula. Drive to East Glacier.
Monday -> Drive through Glacier National Park. Spend night on West Glacier.
Tuesday -> Drive to Calgary.
Wednesday -> Drive to Lake Louise.
Thursday -> Drive to Jasper.
Friday -> Drive to Radium Springs
Saturday-> Drive to Kalispar
Sunday -> Drive to Missoula
Monday -> Head home.

yes, but prices in Canada are high enough to cancel them out, more or less. Its at the point where that is not true anymore.

That's true but the person I spoke with believed that Americans were shying away from Canda for the reasons mentioned.

If true, it's pretty stupid.

I think American tourism all over the world (including the US) is down.

Yep, the economy sucks, and many people continue their paranoid ways about travel. Not good for the tourist industry anywhere.
