Few shots of the moon tonight.

Thanks, I use a really nice Canon Powershot SX530 HS. It has a 50x optical, and I use a crappy tripod, but it would zoom all the way in even if I hold it and get about a 75-80% success rate in getting a good shot, but I still prefer to use my pod. It also can take pics without touching the camera using a app on my phone, but I have still not figured out how to do it, but need to, so I can set the camera, and leave it be while I hit the shutter for it on my phone.

I got it off ebay on Dec 31st 2019 for $97.53 shipped and I love it. Phones are ok for a quick shot, but I use this one for the above, stars, wildlife, people ( 😛 ),and plants/flowers and stays in my car at all times.

From what I been told, that because of the fires out west and Can a duh is the reason its not white, for I did not use a filter, thats exactly what the moon looks like for the last several nights now.

I took this shot THU night from my front yard in North Dallas and it seemed like its normal color...I just stuck my head out the door just now and and it 'seems' the normal color (not sure if you meant the color was off just in your region)

I did darken the exposure a bit on the the image below (with a 600mm lens on an okay tripod but it did cost a bit more than $98 LOL)

DUDE AWESOME SHOT!!

As for the color, I took some at around 12 am tonight and posted them in a different thread, and yeah, aside of the last 3 nights, all night when you saw the moon it was "orange", in the same exact spot I took the new ones at, so not really sure whats up. These the moon was pretty low when I took them, but again the new shots was in the same place I took the other shots from, and the new ones I just posted.

thanks dude...actually I think this shot from 07/19 was alot better...There is usually a slight layer of haze in the upper atmosphere that does make it hard to get a clean shot of the moon (and also not being out in the country away from city lights makes a difference)...for whatever reason, there was not haze that night and the moon craters came out pretty sharp...

I saw that one in the other forum, very impressed. I too hope one day I can get them to stand out like that, but you got a one in a million shot there 😉
