I've just got a new notebook pc and it came with Windows Xp Professional. Some of the below may be applicable to notebook pcs only:

Why do games run in a little window? How do I fix this? Is it because the game is running in a lower resolution and it won't fill screen?

How do I change the name my copy of windows xp pro is registered too. Not the name on the start menu, but the name that appears in system properties and when you ctrl-alt-del.

How do I better edit my start menu. When I right-click and explore the start menu to try and edit it how I like, not all the programs show up on it. The startmenu option in control panel doesn't really let me do any customization.

Thanks

1. Some games should have a settings that allow you to run full screen mode.

2. Re-install or hack the registry

3. right click on start, select properties / Start menu tab and either select "start menu" or "Classic Start Menu" and select Customize.

Hi, stating the obvious and pretending to know what you're talking about doesn't help.

For example, how do I add folders into the left side area of the xp start menu (so that they display as menu, not link) - kind of like the classic start menu method but I don't want to get rid of the right side of the xp start menu and the other minor features the xp start menu gives over the classic start menu.

2. Open up your registry editor, then find and replace all of the instances of registered name with new registered name.

(To open up your registry editor, go to Start -> Run, and type "regedit")

3. I am not sure if you're able to do that in the XP explorer, unless under the All Programs subdirectory. Try searching for a program called "True Launcher Bar," that may give you the flexibility (although in a slightly different manner) that you desire.
