ok i used to use style xp jsut fine and i decided to try out a new theme today and i guess somehow my display settings got all messed up and i cant even use my reg ocomputer (im on my lkaptop)...

it boots into windows but my monitor will say out of range cuz i think its tryign run the frequency at like 140hz for some reason..so i cant see anything at all..i booted up in safemode and it let me log in as administrator, and everything seemed to be fine in adminstorator, i could see stuff on my monitor actually..im not sure is the background in safe mode of winxp suppose to be black? i cant log in as my regular user account in xp because everything shows up all black except like icons and stuff so i cant go into dispaly properties to fix the stuff cuz i cant see anything at all.. any suggestions??

another question i got is, im thinking about jsut deleting my regular user account in xp, so that winxp will automatically log in as adminstrator and i think that has different dispaly settings then my reg username...if i do delete my user account, which files/folders will i lose?? only my my documents folder, or anything else?

thanks

dunno, but bump for you.

maybe you can memorize the key strokes needed to change the frequency. i think i did that before.

why dont you just log into your computer as admininstrator instead of your normal user account? and then do what you need to.

Windows XP has restore points, and you can go back to the last restore point from before you changed the settings... umm boot up in safe mode and then go under start - > all programs - > accessories - > system tools - > System restore... and then restore the last saved point, and it will restart up with those settings.

hey thanks for the replies guys, i just got it fixed right before i read these..

i was thinking about memorizing the keystrokes but i wasnt sure if in safe mode theyd be different because i wasnt sure if it loaded all the drivers and everything..just wasnt sure, prolly woulda done that as a last resort..

tried to go in admin and fchange settings but that wouldnt work, it wouldnt change the settings of my regular user account so those display settings were still messed up..

never knew about that windows xp restore feature, seems like it'd come in handy at a tiem like this heh

what i did was boot in vga mode and memorized some keystroeks, mainly just how to change the iwndows themes..and was able to select the dispaly properites and then randomly pushing w hoping it'd restore to windows xp, cuz when i did classic it didnt work..i was able to restore to win xp theme and then rebooted and now everythings fine :D

thanks again
