Building a new comp

Specs:
Silverstone SST-TJ06
New Asus Deluxe MOBO w/2.2 AMD64 3500 cpu
Single Nvidia 6800 U (will go to SLI at a later date)
1 GB of DDR Pc 3200 Ram


NO OVERCLOCKING

I know nothing about power supplies, and have had one fail in the past, dont want that. what should I get good reliable and power for SLI, and lots of xtras (fans) what should I get?

since im not overclocking is a good CPU fan neccessary or is a "stock" or retail fan that comes with a retail verison good enough?

There will be many people here who will answer your PSU question and who have alot more knowledge than I do in that area so I will leave it to them. Though if you want a quick answer use the "search" function, there are about 5 "What PSU do I need for <blah>" threads every day so chances are that question is all-ready answered.

As for a stock HSF, it will work fine for your CPU. It has to since it was included by AMD and by using the stock you know you are garunteed a replacement if your CPU ever fries due to heat. That being said, I have only ever used stock HSF with my old comps, never with my mainstream gamer PC. I prefer an aftermarket that reduces my temps to more comfortable levels instead of just within spec. Two brands that are very popular are Zalman and Thermalright, so I would look into those.

With dual 6800's in SLI I'd say the min PSU with a bit of head room would be a quality 400watt with 22+ amps on the 12 volt rail. This 400 watt Seasonic would be great, there is a 460 available as well for just over $100.

Stock cooling is ok but I prefer after market as well; better performance and lower noise. Check out Zalman, Alpha and Thermalright.
